DEFTONES Cover JOHN LENNON For AMNESTY
December 5, 2005DEFTONES are among the artists who are recording John Lennon songs to raise funds for human rights organization Amnesty International. The recordings, which will be released as downloads through Amnesty.org, will be part of Amnesty's new youth-oriented music campaign that begins in January. Other contributors include AVRIL LAVIGNE, BLACK EYED PEAS, SUM 41 and DURAN DURAN. There is no word yet on if a physical album will be distributed.
Yoko Ono donated the rights to her late husband's solo tracks to Amnesty International in 2002 for the Imagine campaign, which asked children around the world to sing the 1971 peace classic. Lennon was murdered 25 years ago this Dec. 8.
